If you live in the USA then it would be 18 and above. At this age I think person is more or less can make "reasonable" decisions.

well, considering how we (females) always demand equality, it is only fair to require the same from both. :D

Ahh...just checking. But in either case there would be a lot of single people walking around.

There is a dispute between our Sages in Talmud Kidushin at what age a guy should get married. One says that a man should first study Torah, learn how to make money and build himself a house and only then get married. Another one says that it is best to get married at age 18. And if a guy does not get married by the age of 20 G-d is cursing him, because of the amount of sin he has commited by being alone with no wife.

Dont worry, keep asking question. We'll try to answer them as best as we can... ;)

what is Beit Shamai?
Okay, "B[a]eit" means "house" and "Shamai" is a name of a person/Rabbi. In this case basicaly it means "Shamais's House" or in other words "according to Shamai" :happy25:

I think 16 is the appropriate age to start dating. And I don't think that one should start dating once they are ready to get married. The whole point of dating is to find the right person. So that's why people date different people so they can find the RIGHT one.

If the right one (he) doesnt exist, does the right one (she) exists?

"Trinity you are not right. I believe that he is the right one. He is a chosen one. I believe that he exists. I believe. No Trinity. The right one "She" does not exist. Only the right one He exists and He is Neo. I believe Neo is the one."

on the contrary, when it comes to dating, getting a head start does not increase your chances in, or quality of a relationship!! Look @ the secular world, they begin dating from age 13 if not earlier (experience is one thing they've got plenty of), and after all said and done, how many of them do you think find "the right one" and engage in a stable long term relationship/marriage. I think it is not about searching for "the right one", it's about knowing when's the right time. May all be blessed to find the right one at the right time.

Shabbat Shalom!! :)

I agree with most of what you wrote.
I also think, the more person dates the more picky he/she becomes. With every person you date you learn what you like and don't like, you tend to become very specific and actually narrow down your dating pool.
