View Full Version : How long are you in USA
yitzel4ritzel 09-06-2005, 11:23 AM Today makes 9 years since me and my family stepped off the Delta airplane and began our journey in the United States of America.
I remember that day very clearly...and now that I look back at it i can say that 9 years flew by so fast and changed so much in my life.
How about you? How many years are you in USA?
and if you had a choice would you have it any other way?
Natasha 09-06-2005, 11:45 AM 14. Change what exactly? Most of us came here when we were children. It was our parents' decision to come here and it was up to them to decide the right time to come here. We really didn't have a say. But I am glad they made the decision they did and when they did.
Jew4Life 09-06-2005, 11:49 AM My plane landed on Friday July 4th @ 6pm. Can anyone guess what year did July 4th fall on a Friday... :party07:
Executive 09-06-2005, 11:51 AM 26 years, I don't remember anything. I wouldn't have it any other way :). I remember Forest Hills, Rego Park & Flushing before the Bukharian invasion. If anyone is interested to hear the history of these neighborhoods, feel free to ask :).

I sense a regret in your post...how come? неужели наша бухарская сплочонность мешает некоторым? неужели недаём спокойной ассимиляцыи в американскую среду тем кто был гордый своим одиночеством в стране множества национальностей? :fight25:
FriendlyPA 09-06-2005, 01:16 PM 12 years this past June, and no I don't regred it at all. I love what life has dealt me that June 29, 1993.
I think if I were to go back, I could write a whole book on how we came to this country, how these men with guns (амоновцы) met us at the train station in moscow to transfer us to Sherementievo 2, and to also ward off the mobs (рекетёры) who were looking for big families like ours to leave the country, so they can charge their big fees. How we spent the night at the airport, how our bagage checks were probably the most funniest, but most importantly, and gladly this was the memory that sticks to my mind most, how I, a 13 year old boy at the time asked the stewardess for Pepsi all flight long (I think I had maybe 10 pepsi drinks by the time we came to NYC). Была прекрасная жизнь, мы радовались таким маленким вещам. ;)
QueenofLilies 09-06-2005, 02:02 PM :party11: I am a citizen of the United States for 13 years, and proud of it!
Coming from Dushanbe to this wonderful country which offers a bountiful of opportunities has certainly made my very grateful, and therefore not take too mnay things for granted. Salute!

Most probably 1997... He's fresh meat :), besides immigration doors from the USSR were shut up until '87 or '88.
goldenmalach 09-06-2005, 03:51 PM 12 years has passed since my family moved to the U.S I like the fact that we came here, but we also had an oppurtunity to go to Israel, I wonder how my life would have been if we would go to Israel instead.

Shoshy 09-06-2005, 06:50 PM On June 2 was my 5 year anniversary! :) As a second immigration it was hard and difficult to adapt to, but NY has greeted us with warm and open hands and made it possible for my family and myself to become who we are today, and achieve what we did.
Im very thankful for it.
HandsomeHunk 09-06-2005, 11:46 PM December will make it 14 years since we came to this land of oppurtuntiy. I vaguely remember that day, being a young child and all. I'm grateful that my parents made this choice to move, afterall immgration was not easy on them, but they felt that it was more important that my sister and I got everything life can offer, oppurtunities that were not available to them, so they sacrificed their comfort and moved to America for their children. I have yet to regret coming to America.

To be honest with you, not really. All i need to do is "check-in" those areas once a month, sometimes more sometimes less and everything comes back to "life". :redd: its really cool though i love it.

Work? These low paying abusive jobs? And the play in other cities is even better. Miami is the nightlife capital now. Not to mention better year round climate and more parking, less traffic!!
