in this problem theres nothing else but 2 ropes and a lighter
these 2 ropes are in different forms (one might be thicker then the other) but you know for a fact that each rope can be burnt in 1 hr
how can u measure 15 minutes from the above information? :innoc08:
hint: lenght or width don't matter

I assume you can not bend or cut the ropes. If that is the case, then did you probably mean 45 minutes and not 15 minutes?

u can measure 45 min as well

The reason it would be better to ask for 45 minutes is because you will know the start time and measure until the unknown right away, which is the end of the 45 minutes. Of course you can measure 15 minutes as well. But, you will have to wait for the start time.
Anyway. Here is a solution to your problem. You start burning two ropes. One rope you start burning from one end and another rope from two ends. When the rope that was burning from two ends finishes, it marks the end of 30 minutes. So the other rope has 30 more minutes to burn. You light this rope from the second end. It will burn from both ends for the remaining 15 minutes. That is your 15 minutes.

well i mentioned 30 min and 15 min...if you add them it will be 45 min :P
