Is Google, Inc to enter Automobile market with enthusiasm?
In a shock move, Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) are expected to announce a move into the assembly and design of a range of automobiles. Instead of going head to head with the leading car makers they are expected to collaborate fully with the likes of Ford, Honda and Nissan.
“Thinking of the possibilities of branding this way totally implodes my brain” said Barry Sage, Google co-enthusiast and president of a small geek collective. “I’m so pleased that one day I’ll be able to ride in a big G automobile”
This announcement is logical expansion of the existing Google portfolio of products and services. Route planning being the most obvious, with other media being spooled through the car’s build in control center.
“Imagine the advantages of the car being able to tell you where to drive to on a breakdown”, said Mary Mustard, Leader of a shipping firm. “Or even choosing which shops to drive to depending entirely on the prices they offer”. She adds, trying to work out how you’d possibly drive to a garage when broken down.
In an extension of the radio, local advertisers will bid on time slots with which to ply you with their wares. The ad spots will be allocated on a driver by driver basis depending on previous car history and which stores they visited within the last 30 day period.
Yahoo and MSN have yet to comment, but expect to come to market with a similar product once they’re let Google work out how it’s done.
Google themselves have yet to comment on any of this.
