Jewish Heritage Museum presents, "The Bukharan Odyssey"

This exhibition of Zion Ozeri photographs captures one of the world's most exotic and colorful Jewish communities, the Bukharan Jews of Uzbekistan. Settling in the cities and villages of Central Asia centuries ago, this community flourished and created its own special traditions, customs, and rituals. Zion Ozeri traveled to Uzbekistan from 1993-2000 to photograph this rich and vibrant intersection of Jewish, Persian, and Soviet influences on Bukharan Jews just as they began emigrating en masse to Israel and the United States following the break up of the Soviet Union.

I suggest you go on a Wednesday. Also, if you get more than 10 people to go with you, Ozeri can be your guide... :)

Hello guys,I spoke to Ozeri earlier this morning. he is currently in San Francisco giving a lecture at some University. He agreed to give us a special tour of his exhibit once we pick a date. ;)

Now to answer your questions,
how about sunday
Sunday sounds good, but we can’t really get a group package. Each of us will have to pay a small fee @ the door…
aha so ask Jew why Wednesday?
If we visit the place during the week(M-Th), we’ll get a full package(including a tour) if we get a group of 15+ people to come. As far as Wednesday goes, the museum is open that day 10am-8pm, where as the rest of the week(excluding Shabbat) they are open 10am-5pm…

P.S. Our group package includes the tour of the whole museum, but concentrating mainly on Bukharan Odyssey with Zion Ozeri. :party39:

i think ill join, and go to this museum. I havent been in a museum for over 3 yrs and this one seems intresting. ill grab a few friends along too. how about we go on feburary 19th. so who else would like to join me and my friends? plz speak up and dont be shy.
