Would you dress up if you had no one to look at you?

some ppl just like to look good all the time, whether anyone will c them that day or not. im one of those ppl ;)
i feel much better if i dress nicely. its also a matter of tzniut. try hanging out in ur pajamas all day or wearing clothes that give u the feeling that u can lay back and relax.
ppl act the way they do to match wat they r wearing. IT'S TRUE! therefore, its good to dress like a presentable human being. then u will behave like one.

when you say presentable, would you say that you have audience, people that you are presenting it to? Also, human behaviors are learned during social interactions. There are no human behaviors if an individual lives alone somewhere in a desert. Think about it, if all the people disappeared and you were the only human being left in the NYC. Would you dress up to go to work? I think you would in the beginning, but as time will pass and you will not receive any feedback from people or anyone alive who can speak. I doubt that you will continue to look presentable and behave like a human being.

I believe so yes. People like attention. In order to get the attention they want, they want to be noticed. The first impression that anyone can portray to others is their self-image. "First impression is Last impression"...unfortunately that is sometimes so

does a person have no shame in front of Hashem? u have to dress a certain way. it has to do with the way the clothes u wear makes u act. tzniut never goes away whether there r billions of ppl in this world or whether u r the only one left standing.

Interesting views. I never think about god when i choose what to wear. I guess that's why I did not see that as an option.

It's just something that a person really has to work on. Thinking about Hashem and what He wants of you is very hard to do when going through ur wardrobe or shopping. The best way to start thinking this way is to learn the tzniut laws and the purpose of it. You should know why u do something (of course, only if there is a reason for it) because it just makes it easier for someone to do it.

I remember learning in school that its okay to make a bracha on something as long as ur private parts are covered. I spoke about it with a rabbi because I felt it was wrong. How can a person feel comfortable blessing Hashem if they are sitting on a beach in a bathing suit? Where is the dignity? Hashem is THE KING. He deserves more respect than people these days tend to give.

So when u do get dressed, think of people and looking presentable in society, but most importantly think about Hashem. Even if there r no humans around, Hashem is always there. If a person would dress well for other people, how much more so he should dress well for Hashem.

One important reason to keep tzniut: it nurtures the bina yitera (for girls). I hope to have a dvar Torah written up on this very soon.

Bravo Miriam :happy65:. As for backup, I'll bring an example with Adam and Eve when they saw that they're naked the covered themselves with leaves, because they were ashemed in front of Hashem.
