Lately, I've been noticing that people can personalize the notifications in AIM, and when a person comes "on" on AIM, a window pops up in my computer notifying me that the person signed on and a personalized sound (picked by that buddy) sounds. This sound also sounds when the person is idle, goes away, comes back from away, or signs off.

Is there a way to disable that sound in my AIM??? I don't mind the popup notifications, but the sounds have not been pleasant to my ear lately.

I don't have AIM installed now, but as far as I remember, there are 2 ways to change/disable sound notifications, either via preferences in AIM or by going to control panel > sound and audio devices > sounds > then locate the AIM section of the sounds, and either change or disable it.

That's it, I got it. It's through AIM Preferences=>Expressions. Ufff, I think these expressions should be baned!!!!! :party39:

yeah AOL has annoying sounds...starting from You've got mail to those aim sounds...that's why I just stick with trillian, all in one messenger, that let's you use many messengers with one program, no ads, free, highly customizable

FPA,
This does not kill the mail sound.
Here is how you you can do it:
F3 from AIM main window to get in to preferences then:
