Abortion Restrictions Approved by House - [Politics]
The U.S. House approved legislation making it illegal for minors to have out-of-state abortions without parental consent.
The measure, approved in a 270-157 vote, must still be approved by the Senate before becoming law, but proponents say they have the momentum to gain approval in the upper house of Congress. Declared one of the Republican leadership's Top 10 priorities, the House has approved such legislation three times since 1998 only to see it ignored.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has said he would bring the bill up for a vote sometime this summer.
The legislation would establish strict consequences for bringing a minor over state lines for the medical procedure for both the adult and physicians involved, including fines and jail time. Thank God we have a bunch of men sitting around determining what's best for women and their families. Officials can't wait to tear families apart with such an issue.
I wonder how many parents would wring their daughter's neck if they learned of her pregnancy.
