That a good question you are bringing on. I also wonder how is it possible that when two people say they love each other but still cheat.

Some of the factors that I heard of:
-couples don't date for a long time, don't get to know each other well enough
-when they do date they see everything in pink, they are in love, and don't pay attention to certain things but after they get married they start paying close attention
-they got married because of the parents (he/she is nice, educated, good family)
-he/she not good in bed
-the time (hour or two) when one of them is cheating, they say it makes them forget(for a moment)/relax and not to think of their responsibilities or whatever bothers them in the relationship
-and the list goes on...

I would say most of the time people have no respect to each other. If you respect your other half you would never do it.

I think it's more; if a person would respect himself-then he/she would never do it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

the one who cheats, is missing something in the relationship with the spouse, and it could be million of things.

This one particular I find very interesting, when one person says I love you and i think in his/her own way he/she does love, but still goes out and cheats.
I believe that this kind of cheating is usually done for physical satisfaction will will lead to mental satisfaction and person will feel completely satisfied in all aspects (physcial and psychological).
I think the cause of this might be the fact that people marry for money, personality, or forced into marriage (by time, family, or any other reasons). I think these are the people who are not physically attracted and or satisfied by their spouse. And these people have weak self control or simply don't care about the consequences or doing the "Right" thing. Or may be their value system is different from that of the surrounding culture/society. So far these are the only things I could think of.
