to me it means natural assimilation to the environment we currently reside in. FOr instance, when we were in USSR, we were assimilated to Soviet ways of life. here is an example, names of my relatives, cousin: Kseniya, uncle: Boris, brother: Yefim...do you notice these are all Russian names. Now those of my relatives who were born here, cousin: Michelle and Abigail are more American looking names ;). This is not only a phenomenom for names obviously, it's just an example.

So I think it's relatively impossible to not assimilate, unless of course we become like ultra orthodox jews, and I wish to never see that happen to Bukharian jews...that's extreme, lol...can't possible imagine my relatives wearing stockings, warm coats and wool hats during the summer :happy08:.

Basically, we are conservative, but do assimilate somewhat to not be seen as "outsiders" for example, like ultra orthodox jews, are seen as.

barberic to me is things like canabilism of African tribes, define barberism in your context.

I know one bukhi who lives in Florida and is married to a Japanese woman and has children who don't look anything like him. He looks like ashkenazi, though both of his parents are bukhi. You can only tell that he is bukharian by his last name. I am surprised he didn't change it to something that sounds local.
