Id theft...What can we possibly do to stop it?
I mean, it is not as if the banks are not doing everything that they possibly can to protect us already...Or is it?!
The following article was posted on our forum and I think that it gives an eye-opening account of EXACTLY why this problem is becoming more widespread in the US and also tells us how uninterested the banks are in actually solving the problem.
As we keep pointing out, the more people experience identity theft, the more people are likely to agree to a chip based id system or a chip implant to "solve the problem".
The bank involved in this particular debacle is the Bank Of America whose motto is "Higher Standards"...
Looks like they need a new motto!
EVERYONE VISITING THIS PAGE PRINT IT OR SAVE IT!! SOMEONE MIGHT BE TRYING TO SET ME UP OR REMOVE THIS SITE FROM THE NET... If I get busted for this you can help me by producing this saved copy of this page,
As you may have noticed the site has been hacked about 6 times in the last 4 days, Mostly just index defacements, I believe that I have now found and fixed the problem allowing this to happen. I thought it might have been our friends from our alphabet agencies to prevent the flow of information so close to 9/11. Regardless of the "us pour Muslims" or Pakistani and Turkish crew names, these have been happening from inside the US. Then I start looking around and find out that someone had buried a few sub-directories for bank phishing. All the bank phishing files placed here documentaries.ws/1/banners/.www.bankofamerica.com/bofa/bofa/
the main files in that dir are,
index.htm
update.html <--- identity theft page
update.php
complete.htm
Many other files, pix, flash, etc...
So I'm thinking, should I delete them all??
Should I completely waste my time and contact BofA and see what they want to do??
So I try to be a good guy and call BofA and try to work with their fraud department, They wont let me talk to anyone in fraud, but transfer me to online banking. After fully explaining to a supervisor there that somewhat handles the fraud calls that My server was compromised and phishing files were placed on my server to victimize their customers, she kept only repeating to me don't click on links in my email. This blew my mind, after 10 minutes of telling her that I am not her customer and have not received any emails, that I was hacked and the hacker is running the false BofA files from a sub directory on my website, she then again told me its important not to click on links in my email. I then talked to her like the computer idiot that she was (and she's the online banking supervisor) explaining in much more detail that her customers identities were being stolen from a form on my server and I wanted to talk to an actual Fraud Supervisor to get this straightened out. She then told me to send an email to abuse©bankofamerica.com saying I had received an email that looked strange. I then asked if she would like me to leave these files on my web server to victimize thousands of her customers, she said yes, she said don't delete anything.
At this point I knew I was dealing with a idiot. I hang up and call back.
This time I get a much better understanding customer service rep, I told her do not send me to the online banking department, that I need to talk to an actual Fraud employee. she tells me that customers can not contact fraud agents but her as an employee can. I fully explained the situation to her, and she actually understood everything I was talking about (or actually listening) she puts me on hold for about 15 minutes talking to the corp security/fraud dept. then comes back and says they don't want you to do anything about it. I made sure that she fully understood what she was telling me to do, she replied "yes I do, and truthfully it bothers the hell out of me being a BofA customer herself" I told her is there a email account that I can zip up these directories of files and send to so that maybe their fraud department can examine and see where all this information theft is being sent to, she said nope. I asked should I delete all these files, she puts me on hold again to talk to fraud again, then comes back and said, they said leave it there. I told her "you do understand that this is going to victimize maybe thousands if not tens of thousands of her customers" she said she understands this and is appalled by this her self but they do not want me to remove the phishing files.
Once again this blew my mind, BofA is actually allowing phishing scams against their on customers with not a care in the world. Now we all know that the government and banking institution wants and is making identity theft and credit fraud out of hand to push in other agendas, implantable RFID chips, National ID cards, Cashless Society, Etc... They should at least pretend to help while allowing the fraud to take place, they wont even pretend. They flat out are allowing it to happen, even when they know who's doing it, what fraud is being done, when its happening, where its being done from, how its being done, only thing missing is why, and we know why!!!
I tell her this cant be happening and that she needs to talk to corp fraud again, I sit on hold a while longer, she comes back and tells me that the fraud dept wants me to sit on my hands and does not want me to do a thing even though their customers will become identity theft victims. Now this lady was not an idiot like the supervisor in online banking dept, she fully understood everything I was saying, there was NO confusion about what I was saying to her. She herself kept telling me how worried she is being a BofA customer and cant believe that they are allowing this to happen. Then she lets me know that the Fraud dept had told her to tell me not to delete any of it at all. I was told to wait in till a customer catches on to what's going on and reports it to their abuse department, then to wait for an email from the abuse dept. stating that I am using infringing copyright by storing and using their copyrighted BofA logo on my site and at that point to delete the logo but leave everything else on my server. Everything else so that the identity theft will continue.
I had enough will dealing with them since I tried as hard as I could to help them catch the person stealing their customers identities, and they tried as hard as the could to make sure as many of their customers had their identities stolen..
I gave the lady my Name, phone number, email, and web address, and told her to pass that on to fraud dept and try to have someone call me.
This is not everything that was said on the phone but is the meat of the conversations.
