One day, while scampering up a door, a spider discovered a keyhole and climbed inside.
"How clever I am to find this keyhole," said the spider. "I am such a smart spider."
From the keyhole, the spider could see some stairs and a window.
"I will build a web on those stairs, then hide in my keyhole and watch until my web traps a fly. I will build a web on that window, then hide in my keyhole and watch until my web traps a moth. I am such a smart spider."
But the spider forgot one thing. A keyhole is not meant for a spider. It is meant for a key.
Before long, someone put a key into the keyhole. The surprised spider tumbled to the floor.
He scrambled up on his eight legs, shook his head, and said,
"I guess even a smart spider can make a mistake."
