View Full Version : Girls, where are the tzniut clothes?
OceanofMemories 06-05-2005, 06:36 PM Hi girls. I went shopping today. It was a disaster. I went to Marshall's, Sears, Kohl's, Filene's Basement.
Why is it so hard to find normal clothing these days. Everything is so open. I almost broke down in the store. How am i expected to survive the summer!?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
o, and dont tell me to go to main street. ive been there too. most things are made from polyester, so ur skin wont be able to breathe the whole summer which is not so good!
and y is it that there are no in between sizes? its either too big and the next size is too small.
of course this post is mostly to let my complaints out after such a frustrating 5 hours. have to relieve the stress somehow, right?

It is summer...time to get naked!!! ...woohoo :jump20:
Tssipa 06-06-2005, 02:41 AM try GAP, Bananna republic, H&M i think they have nice things. not too open.
scorpiogrl 06-06-2005, 11:19 AM I was in the same dilema, but I figured it out. Don't go out to shop for the whole summer at once, most likely you will not find anything. If you at least buy one or two things a week, there is a progress already and it will make you feel better.
I heard the stores on Jamaica have pretty decent clothes, money and appearance wise. They have stores like, Pretty Girl, Delicious and so and. Also, try Queens Center Mall, it has a lot of different stores as well.
GOOD LUCK.
crispy 06-06-2005, 04:47 PM Have you ever tried stores in Boro Park or Flatbush? they have the nicest selection of tznius clothes that's great for the summer and the latest styles too. It may be a bit more costly though
TheGreatOne 06-06-2005, 07:49 PM Don't know for obvious reasons, but I'd expect Boro Park to have something like that.

QueenofLilies 06-07-2005, 09:09 AM Awww, honey, I hope u r ok by now...with all these wonderful suggestions.
I heard that recently religious people started wearing those bands on their hands and feet that are iced, therefore they feel cooler, even though usually have to wear more clothes than others.
crispy 06-07-2005, 01:38 PM the following story was in the Maariv Daily paper in Israel, as a letter to the editor, the following is a translation into English as it's a great story.

I was standing at a bus stop in Jerusalem, with me were a few others, elderly, young, men, women, Frum and not Frum, when a girl came by and stopped also to wait for her bus. To say the truth she was not only not dressed modest, but was more undressed then dressed. The charedi people waiting moved back as not to stand near her, but there was one young Charedei boy of about 17-18 years old who crossed the road and waited near fruit shop. After a few minutes he walked into the shop and came out with a big green apple, and walked up to the girl and said THIS IS FOR YOU. She got a bit of a fright but asked 'what do you mean its for me?' All of us standing here could not understand what this young boy wanted from the immodest girl. As we all looked on with curiosity, he said to her YES ITS FOR YOU - AND EAT IT,. and added: " CHAVE, (Adam Harishon's wife) ALSO DIDN'T REALIZE THAT SHE WAS NAKED UNTIL SHE ATE THE APPLE!"

TheGreatOne 06-07-2005, 06:58 PM wrong generalization (fortunately for me). :)
wrong generation. unfortunately for you, you missed it. lol
Did you ever consider making your own clothes? :party29:
OceanofMemories 06-09-2005, 05:46 PM if i knew how to make my own clothes, i would gladly do it. u can take classes for that. designing, patternmaking, sewing it all up. maybe one day....bezrat Hashem. its not a bad idea if u think about it, but u need to have a lot of time on ur hands for this. its much easier to just go shopping for a day and get stressed there.

Stressed? You are a girl. Girls love shopping. A girl saying that she does not like shopping is the same thing as a guy saying he does not like to "drive."
OceanofMemories 06-09-2005, 07:42 PM i hate shopping!!!
i only go when i need to, not when im bored.

crispy 06-10-2005, 08:19 PM I heard that recently religious people started wearing those bands on their hands and feet that are iced, therefore they feel cooler, even though usually have to wear more clothes than others.
don't believe everything you hear, that's how rumors spread.

I actualy know many guys who prefer to take public transportation or to be driven by someone. Shopping for girls and driving for guys is not a good example... :mad25:
