Attackers targeted a Sunni mosque near Baghdad on Saturday, setting off a car bomb that killed 39 people and wounded more than 60. Meanwhile, just hours after Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki cited progress in the effort to restore order in Baghdad, car bombs and mortar rounds killed nine people and injured 42 there.
