Dear Boojilians,

The following enhancements and additional services were added by Boojle staff for your browsing pleasure on Boojle:

Social bookmarks

I am sure many of you have noticed and wondered what those little buttons at the top right corner of each members' posts were for.

One of the well known social bookmarks is the Facebook.com bookmark, which many of you are familiar with by now. Other well known bookmarks are digg.com and del.icio.us. These buttons were created to submit the thread that you are currently viewing to a social bookmarking site. The way social bookmarks work is when one person discovers news, videos, or generally something of interest (in this case a specific thread) he/she can to submit it to the site. If the people review and like the thread that is submitted then they would bookmark it as well. The more people on the social bookmarking site bookmark a particular post or a thread, the more popular this section of the site becomes. This is great if you find interesting information on the forum, or simply would like to share your own thread, this is your chance to share it with the WORLD.

Videos

We have incorporated special codes into our forum module that now allow us to make videos viewable on the site. Feel free to post videos or links to videos in the video section (http://forums.boojle.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66) which we can now make playable right on the forum. Just make sure that these videos are appropriate for Boojle's audience and do not infringe any copyright laws.

Google ads

The ads that you see on the forum are provided by Google ads. Google first reads the page and tries to provide targeted ads according to the content. So if the page or a thread was about Music, it might show ads for various Music products. An article or a thread about web hosting might show ads from different web hosting companies. This system is not the best, however, since most of the content is user generated and there are instances when the content of the thread is not adequate for this forum audience. Nevertheless, Google is, currently, the best out there for this system and they are currently working to improve it. The more a certain page is viewed the more targeted the ads become. It is natural that with this system different users would see different ads due to their location and content viewed. Also, Google will not read anything that only a member has access to, so your private information such as private messaging will remain private!

That is all for now...

Dear members and guests,

You have probably noticed by now that the following new module has been added and integrated with forums: CHAT.

Any member that is already logged in into the forums can navigate to the chat from the link between "new posts" and "Arcade" on the forum navigation bar. The URL for chat is here (http://forums.boojle.com/chat/flashchat.php) for your convenience.

FlashChat includes a set of advanced administrative options so that we can easily manage rooms, users, bans, messages, and much more.

A PHP-based "bad words filter" allows us, the chat administrators, to prevent foul language from being viewed within the chat.

Nearly every color in FlashChat can be modified.

FlashChat has the ability to use small, graphic avatars for any user. We can may also set special avatars to distinguish male vs. female users. The background image can be customized for any user as well.

Users can ignore other users, share files, engage in private chats, and view user profiles.

The FlashChat smilie set is one of the largest of any chat system.

All of FlashChat's sounds are externally configurable via MP3 files. Any sound can be muted by default.

Any text or language setting can be changed by users "on the fly". Their choices are remembered by FlashChat using local shared object. The vectorized FlashChat interface adjusts automatically to accommodate increases or decreases in text size.

Any sound option can be muted and tested. Options also exist for right/left speaker balance ("pan") and for overall volume.

Every theme color scheme can be fully modified by users, with their settings saved by the Flash player as local shared objects. FlashChat comes with multiple custom-designed skins, including Macintosh Aqua, Windows XP, and Gradient Skin.

So, invite other members and enjoy chatting and sharing ideas!:party39:

I tried to put up a thread like this in the announcements thread, and it didn't let me, it said that I do not have authority or something to access this thread. I guess I should've put it here
