Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.
Personally, I would like to know who came up with this and why that person is not running the country....

1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your
head)

2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area
code)

3. Multiply by 80

4. Add 1

5. Multiply by 250

6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number

7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

8. Subtract 250

9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

That's so easy to understand.

when you take an original number and multiply first by 80 and then by 250, you are creating a shift of four zeroes and multiplication by 2 as you are multiplying by 20000. In between, you insert addition of 1 before multiplying by 250, therefore you are really adding another 250; hence, the need to subtract 250 later. then you add the four digits of the phone (and it comes handy that you shifted the original number by four zeroes, so the numbers will by one by one what you enter); finally, you divide by 2 since you created not only a shift by four zeroes, but also a multiplication by 2.

a simple analysis of what's happening with the process you indicate makes it trivial to understand the result.

but it was interesting. :)
