PrivateBukhar 07-11-2007, 10:48 PM Are all people on this site Bukhars? bjew4u 07-11-2007, 11:22 PM firstly, I'd prefer if you wrote Bukharians, because the term "bukhars" was created to degrade Bukharians, and is now used for the same purpose by Gorski's and few others. secondly, not all are, but I am proud to say that I am. AGK 07-11-2007, 11:39 PM not all are Bukharians....some are mixed, some are American-born Bukharians, a few are other category of Sephardic Jews, and and even fewer are not even Jewish. In any case, what difference does it make, we are all humans after all - no matter what our background, nationality, religion, etc :). bjew4u 07-12-2007, 07:50 AM not all are Bukharians....some are mixed, some are American-born Bukharians, a few are other category of Sephardic Jews, and and even fewer are not even Jewish. Not really. Indeed, in the place-name of Bukhara it's quite possibly reflected the former location here of pre-Islamic temples such as Zoroastrians, Buddhists, Manicheans, Christian's churches and pagan temples. According to one of the versions the name of the city is derived from "vihara", which means Buddhist monastery, Haflzi Tanish, a sixteenth-century annalist of Bukhara wrote that the word 'Bukhara' is derived from "bukhar", which amidst the Zoroastrian means "source of knowledge". Also the Uigur and Chinese heathens named their pagan temples "Bukhar". The real name of the city was Lumdjikat. Even if they called me Bukhars, i would just ignore it. Jelousy sometimes makes people call other people nicknames I know for a fact that many many many Gorski people use this term, and use it in a very derogatory manor, and in the past, it was also used to degrade Bukharians, but if it really means what you say SOF then I guess it something good, but that's not the way it was used back then, and the way it's being used now. |
