Last week MMA world was shocked to learn the news that Randy Couture, UFC title holder in light heavy weight and heavy weight classes, had resigned via fax from UFC, as the HW champ, commentator and UFC ambassador.
Apparently he was upset because of the fact UFC was paying more to the former Pride fighters coming over, and especially because UFC offered to pay Fedor Emelianenko in excess of $1M to fight Randy, while Randy was on contract that guaranteed him only up to $200K a fight. He also said he saw no point in staying since the Fedor fight would never happen in UFC.
Fedor just signed a $10M contract with Russian M-1 promotion that got a major infusion of money from some yet unknown US entertainment company. My guess is HDNet or WWE or some Las Vegas casino.
Randy Couture is now in South Africa filming the prequel to Scorpion King movie titled "Scorpion King - The Rise of the Akkadian". He plays the nemesis of the young Scorpion King.
