The Miss Russian NY beauty pageant was held last week in Brooklyn's Rasputin. After several months of preliminary castings, press conferences and photo sessions, a winner was finally chosen.

Now getting closer to my point, I think we as Bukharian Jews should seriously consider launching a similar pageant, but instead to make the contest a bit more geographically diverse considering our smaller population. That being said, the winner will be Miss Bukharian World.
We can gather candidates from over-seas, whether from Israel, Austria, Germany etc. The finalists will have to be chosen based on several criteria, not only aesthetic beauty. and obviously the winner would be a physically appealing, educated, well rounded and well spoken female. (I know thats a hell of a challenge, but hey we can try :) ) .

Please Scorpiogrl and the rest of the members, give this some thought. And I would definetly not mind contributing any of my resources to this.

No, I think we should stick to females since it would be much more of a challenge (especially to find a complete package, or anything remotely close). This truly would be one hell of a scavenger hunt!! :)

If we conducted a male contest, it would be named Mr. Bukharian Rego Park, since all finalists would be easily recruited from Platinum gym based on looks, and we would end up with no winners due to either lack of brains, education, history of drug abuse, or criminal record. :). Too easy yet very pointless. (Guys usually need the gym to look good, girls don't).

Besides that, most of the fully qualified guys are long married, and in our community every year of marriage adds an extra few pounds on to both sexes. The females who run would need to be 18 years of age or older (too young for guys, since girls mature faster than boys).

Platinum gym sucks. Alot of guys there. My favorite gym is Lucille Roberts.

Thanks for looking at the idea. As far as prizes are concerned, preferably would be something from one of the sponsors. Such as maybe a Trip somewhere from a travel agency who sponsors the event. Runner's up can have a piece of Jewelry from a Jeweler sponsor. Followed by maybe free hair/beauty salon service for a year at a sponsoring salon.

Yes you are right, this would take ALOT of planning, without a doubt. Would require a group effort from various community members. Videographers, Restaurant owners, private investors, organizations in order to make this happen. atleast we have a model to follow. I think this year, the Russian NY team did amazingly better than last year with this pageant. Highly professional and organized.

I agree with you to a certain degree, however, it is also a paradox. Many times the carreer or occupation makes the person. Surroundings rub-off and so do the behaviour pattern of co-workers.

I am sure if an intelligent honors student works as a hair dresser among fellow Bukharians for a few years, eventually he will develope their personality characteristics and behaviour patterns.

At young ages people are most vulnerable to developemental alterations, because strong belief systems havent been put in place yet and change is inevitable from environmental conditions. Also, not all criminals are born, many are made..

I agree as well. I believe that what Mr. Executive is proposing is not at all a bad idea. However, I would like to see the same contest for guys!!! And I do agree with executive once again in that he is not looking for miss perfect; men are terribly afraid of beautiful + smart women - that is one of their biggest fears. Though I think this idea sounds like lots of fun, we should definitely do it :)
