Strong winds and heavy rains are pounding the coast of Texas as the eye of Hurricane Dolly heads toward land this morning. Residents in southern Texas and northeastern Mexico earlier stacked sandbags at doorways and nailed plywood over windows to protect homes from the strengthening storm.
