Jew4Life 07-18-2005, 11:21 AM Hey guys, how are you all doing? I hope many of you had a lot of fun yesturday playing Paint Ball. Anyway, As far back in time as we know, mankind has been attached to collecting. Whether it be rocks, shells, books, stamps or coins, collecting strikes a rich vein of curiosity and interest in all of us. Collecting is also a way to make time stand still, or at least to bring the past along with us. If nothing were saved, we would have no knowledge of the past – except for what we read or are told. And with collectables, the past comes alive. It is remembered through objects that were actually used by people who lived before us.
Now, my a question to all of you. Do you guys have any hobbies? I know many of you might have a hobby of writing or reading, but I specifically would like to know if you collect any items such as coins, stones, stmaps, etc. I’m sure some of you might say “duh, don’t you gain/collect ideas and learn new things by reading…” lolz :innoc04:
I personally, enjoy collecting coins/currency and stamps... ;)
crispy 07-18-2005, 11:22 PM I collect quotes. It's a great theraputic exsercise for when I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I keep them in a shoe box but I think I'm gonno make time to buy an album and make a scrapbook or something. I will have fun putting it together and enjoy going through my collection from time to time. I'm hoping that one day when I have kids I can take out the book go through it with them. Yeah...that would be fun.

Jew4Life 07-19-2005, 12:09 PM Hey guys, Do you guys have any hobbies?
I personally, enjoy collecting coins/currency and stamps... ;)
Let me get abit into my collection, as you already have read above, I enjoy collecting coins and stamps. The reason why I enjoy collection this items are, Coins are especially fascinating, for they were and are the means of daily commercial exchange. Coins are historical reminders. They carry finely crafted designs. And they are officially issued by a government. These small pieces of metal play significant roles in the growth and development of a nation. When you acquire old coins, or more recent coins commemorating important people or events, you are holding an important piece of history right in your hand!
Coins, of course, have been made in a fabulous variety of sizes, shapes, metals, denominations, and designs. And searching for special dates and mint marks can be an exciting adventure.
As far as my stamp collection goes, its a fun and relaxing hobbby. And stamp collecting is a real "armchair" hobby as one of my friends who has been collecting stamps for over 24 years says...
Few best reasons to collect coins and/or stamps:
They are fun, affordable, art, valuable, imposrtant, and most of all they are history!
crispy 07-19-2005, 03:08 PM I collect quotes as well.
really! I thought I was the only freak that collects quotes (not to say that you're a freak :)). I think quotes are inspirational, wise, and some are even humorous. It fascinates me how one sentence can contain so much wisdom. That's why I collect quotes.
YOu?

Nope, I collect quotes too, but I made a file on the computer where I have all my quotes, I go in from time to time to read them and add more. Actually I find quotes very useful when you do a powerpoint pressentation. It grabs people's attention.
